Qualifiers Round 2 - Group A: Australia cruise into next stage

Perth: Australia defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 to top Group A of the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament - Asian Qualifiers Round 2 with a perfect three wins.

The victory takes Australia into Round Three of the Qualifiers, which will see the three group winners and the best-ranked runners-up will advance to Round 3 battling it out in two pairs of home and away matches, with the victors of each tie filling the two berths on offer for the Asian Football Confederation at the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.

Philippines, meanwhile, ended their campaign with a 1-0 win over Islamic Republic of Iran to finish in the runners-up spot but will only know their fate upon the conclusion of the other two groups.

Asian Qualifiers: Round 3 cast confirmed

Kuala Lumpur: Uzbekistan joined group winners Australia, DPR Korea and Japan in advancing to Round 3 of the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament - Asian Qualifiers on Wednesday.

Uzbekistan defeated India 3-0 in their final Group C tie to finish as the best-ranked runners-up ahead of Philippines and Korea Republic.

Asian Qualifiers Round 2: MD2 Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: There is still all to play for in the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament - Asian Qualifiers Round 2 following the conclusion of Matchday Two on Sunday. 

Australia left themselves well placed to advance to the third round after an 8-0 win over Phillipines gave them a three-point lead at the top of Group A.  China PR pulled themselves back in the running in Group B after a 3-0 defeat of Thailand, with their cause aided by DPR Korea and Korea Republic playing to a goalless stalemate.
 
Japan are the favourites to advance from Group C, with their 2-0 win over Uzbekistan taking them to six points. 
 
The group winners and the best-ranked runners-up will advance to Round 3 – to be played in February 2024 – and will battle in two pairs of home and away matches, with the victors of each tie filling the two berths on offer for the Asian Football Confederation at the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.

Kuala Lumpur: Twelve Asian teams will continue their quest to reach Paris when the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament - Asian Qualifiers Round 2 kicks off on Thursday.

Divided into three groups, the four sides within each will play a single round-robin league format in their respective centralised venues over three matchdays from October 26 to November 1, 2023.
 
The group winners and the best-ranked runners-up will advance to Round 3 – to be played in February 2024 – and will battle in two pairs of home and away matches, with the victors of each tie filling the two berths on offer for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) at the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
