Alexandersson proud as India sign off in style

Pathum Thani: Head coach Joakim Alexandersson came away pleased with the way India concluded their AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026™ Group C campaign on Wednesday.

The South Asian side outplayed Chinese Taipei 3-1 to claim their first win, taking a two-goal lead in the first half through Bhumika Khumukcham and Sibani Devi before the latter closed the match by converting a penalty in the 87th minute.

The win, however, was not enough to seal a spot in the quarter-finals, with Vietnam and Uzbekistan pipping India to a place in the next round.

Pathum Thani: India outplayed Chinese Taipei 3-1 to claim their first AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026™ Group C win at the Pathum Thani Stadium on Wednesday.

Joakim Alexandersson’s side, however, missed out on the quarter-finals after Uzbekistan defeated Jordan 4-0 in their Group B tie to advance as one of the two best third-placed teams.

Pathum Thani: Australia moved into the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026™ quarter-finals following a 5-0 victory over India in Group C at the Pathum Thani Stadium on Sunday.

A hat-trick from Skye Hamarick and further strikes from Danella Brutus and Daisy Brown saw the Alexander Epakis’ side notch their second straight win, with their meeting with Japan on Wednesday to decide the group winners.

India still have a chance to progress despite two defeats but will have to beat Chinese Taipei.
