Debrecen: Qatar captain Hassan Al Haydos scored a brace to steer the reigning AFC Asian Cup champions to a comeback 2-1 win against Azerbaijan in an international friendly at Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, Hungary on Saturday.
Qatar, who are preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2022, played their second match as an invited team in Group A of the European Qualifiers with the Republic of Ireland next up on Tuesday.

Azerbaijan opened the scoring after 16 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Mohammed Waad fouled Tellur Mutallimov and Ramil Sheydayev converted past Saad Al Sheeb.
Qatar improved as the match progressed but they failed to create any notable chances in the remaining minutes of the first half.
Felix Sanchez's side, however, leveled the tie in the 55th minute when Al Haydos converted a spot-kick which was awarded after Almoez Ali was brought down inside the penalty area.
Al Haydos scored the winning goal three minutes later with a wonder strike off a pass from Almoez Ali, with the Qatari captain unleashing a screamer from distance into the top corner past goalkeeper Emil Balayev.
Qatar, having kicked off their tour with a 1-0 win over Luxembourg on Friday, will now aim for a third consecutive win when they take of Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.
