AFC concludes first-ever Futsal & Beach Soccer Assessment visit to Oman
Muscat: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted its first-ever Futsal and Beach Soccer Assessment visit to Oman, a country which could potentially host future competitions in West Asia.
The AFC delegation team were welcomed by the Oman Football Association (OFA) President HE Shaikh Salem Said Salem Al Wahaibi, who said that the sport has continuously improved in recent years: “Under the supervision of the AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, football, beach soccer and futsal have developed rapidly in Asia.
“Futsal and beach soccer have become a popular sport in the world, and we request the AFC to assist us in developing the sport in Oman.”
He added that the OFA is looking at ways to organise domestic futsal and beach soccer tournaments and leagues with the cooperation of the OFA and AFC.

OFA General Secretary and CEO Said Othman Mohamed Al Bulushi, thanked the AFC for the Assessment Visit: “The OFA, under the guidance of its president is seriously looking to develop futsal and beach soccer nationwide.
“I believe it’s the right time for Oman to look into the development of futsal and beach Soccer, and I wish the visit will be beneficial in raising the game in Oman.”
AFC Head of Futsal and Beach Soccer Ali Targholizadeh was delighted with the cooperation from the OFA and stressed on the importance of futsal as the foundation for football.
“Futsal and beach soccer are the foundation for football, and we will do our best to assist the OFA in all areas to make the game more successful in the country. We believe Oman has great potential to achieve great things in futsal and beach soccer.
The AFC team will continue its responsibilities through regular meetings, field visits and inspections.
