Kuala Lumpur: Islamic Republic of Iran female referee Gelareh Nazemi and the highly experienced Nurdin Bukuev of Kyrgyz Republic are among eight Asian Football Confederation (AFC) match officials appointed to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021.
It will be another feather in the cap for Nazemi, who will be the first women referee from the AFC to be appointed to the FIFA Futsal World Cup. This comes after she was one of the first female referees to officiate in an AFC men’s futsal competition in May.
She will be among five other female referees in the futsal showpiece while the 40-year-old Bukuev has been appointed for his fourth FIFA Futsal World Cup, making him the most experienced match official on the list.
Joining them in the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021 include Hussain Ali Al Bahhar from Bahrain, Fahad Badir Ali Mohamed Alhosani from the UAE, An Ran from China PR, Tomohiro Kozaki from Japan, Ebrahim Mehrabi Afshar from IR Iran and Ryan Shepheard from Australia.
The FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021 will be played from September 12 to October 3, 2021, with 2016 third-placed finishers IR Iran, Japan, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam representing Asia.
