AFC referee fitness instructors gain valuable insights
Kuala Lumpur: 19 participants benefitted from the AFC Referee Fitness Instructors Seminar which concluded at the Malaysian capital on Wednesday.
The three-day seminar, which saw the participation of 14 men and five women instructors, was aimed at enhancing the quality of refereeing fitness education and training programmes across Asia as well as to increase the number of qualified fitness experts.
Ahead of the event, Member Associations were invited to nominate candidates in accordance to a stringent criteria defined to continue raising the standards of refereeing in the Continent.

As such, the instructors were required to have relevant official qualifications, experience, to be professionally active in the football-related market, English and computer skills.
During the course of the seminar, the instructors gained insights into the latest fitness practices applied to refereeing both from the AFC experts, and their own self analysis and peer review.
A series of interactive sessions were designed to assess the participants’ competency on training, testing and organising fitness activities. Practical exercises included preparation and conduction of field training, carrying out of fitness tests and delivery of presentations.
Successful candidates will be selected to the AFC Referee Fitness Instructors Panel and will be eligible to be appointed to AFC refereeing development activities and competitions.
