Al Duhail opened the scoring after only six minutes when 2019 AFC Asian Cup top scorer Almoez Ali converted a spot-kick.

Al Sadd levelled the scores eight minutes later when Bounedjah beat goalkeeper Salah Zakaria from an acute angle.

The 29-year-old forward gave Al Sadd the lead five minutes into the second half when Nam Tae-hee defeated Zakaria before playing a neat pass to Bounedjah who slotted the ball into the net.

The Algerian international completed his hat-trick with three minutes remaining when he launched a quick counter-attack before scoring with a powerful right-foot strike into the right.

Bounedjah is now three goals ahead of Youcef Blaili of Qatar SC at the top of the scoring chart.

“We made a great effort on the field against Al Duhail who had strong and fast players," said the 29-year-old forward. "We were able to take advantage of the opportunities and scored three goals.

“Yes, I scored a hat-trick and it was thanks to the efforts of the players and the team as a whole. Al Duhail have excellent defenders such as Ahmed Yasser and Medhi Benatia, and a striker must be mentally ready and I was mentally ready for them, and we won, which is a big step towards winning the league title.”
