Candelas returns to FFIRI as futsal technical director

Tehran: Jesus Candelas has been named as technical director of the national futsal team following the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran’s technical committee meeting on Tuesday.

The 62-year-old Spanish was head coach of Team Melli between 2013 and 2015, leading them to the 2014 AFC Futsal Championship final where they finished runners-up to Japan.

A-League 2019/20 remaining schedule of matches released

Sydney: Football Federation Australia (FFA) has released the schedule of matches for the remainder of the A-League 2019/20 season.

The revised regular season schedule will feature 27 matches to be played in 28 days starting July 16 followed by a five-game A-League 2020 Finals Series.

Doha: Qatar Stars League defending champions Al Sadd announced on Tuesday that they will not renew the contract of Mexican international attacking midfielder Marco Fabian.

Former Colombia, Costa Rica boss Pinto to coach UAE

Dubai: Jorge Luis Pinto, best known for leading Costa Rica to the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, is set to take over the United Arab Emirates national team, it was announced on Monday.

The 67-year-old Colombian will sign a two-year deal which would lead up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Finals, local media reported after the United Arab Emirates Football Association said the deal had been given a green light.
