Ahmedabad: DPR Korea revived their 2019 Intercontinental Cup hopes with a 5-2 win over India on Saturday.
With both teams having suffered defeats in their opening matches - DPR Korea were beaten 5-2 by Syria while India conceded four second half goals to lose 4-2 to Tajikistan - neither side could afford a second defeat.

DPR Korea started the better of the two as they took the game to India at the Eka Trans Stadia Arena in Ahmedabad.
DPR Korea captain Jong Il-gwan gave his team the lead eight minutes in with a sublime free-kick and the East Asians doubled their advantage eight minutes later with Sim Jin finding the back of the net with a neat finish from inside the box.
Captain Jong doubled his tally in the 28th minute when he rose high to head home DPR Korea's third of the night.
India sent on Udanta Singh and Lallianzuala Chhangte in the second half and the two had an immediate impact.
Udanta first created a chance for Rowllin Borges and then Chhangte scored India's first goal of the match in the 51st minute.
India pressed for a second goal but it was DPR Korea who would score again as Ri Chol slotted home in the 63rd minute.
India captain Sunil Chhetri reduced the deficit in the 71st minute but DPR Korea added their fifth in the second minute of added time through Ri Hyong-jin to seal an emphatic win.
Up next for DPR Korea are Tajikistan, who are on a high after two wins, on Monday while India will play Syria on Tuesday.
The top two teams at the end of the round robin competition will advance to Friday's final.
