Safawi, who turned 24 on Friday, took one touch of the ball off a Gonzalo Cabrera corner kick and weak clearance by the Kedah defence to open the scoring in the 35th minute.
JDT struck the second blow in the 68th minute, with midfielder Leandro Velazquez breezing past two defenders before sending the ball to Fernando Rodriguez who relayed it to Insa to fire home from outside the box.
