Lebanon down Djibouti to win FIFA Arab Cup ticket

Doha: Hilal El Helwe scored a stunner in the second half to steer Lebanon to the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup Finals after edging Djibouti 1-0 in a playoff match at Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday.

Lebanon advanced to Group D of the Finals along with Algeria, Egypt and Sudan.

Playoff: Kaya FC-Iloilo beat Shanghai Port FC to create AFC Champions League history

Bangkok: Kaya FC-Iloilo defeated Shanghai Port FC 1-0 at the Pathum Thani Stadium in Bangkok on Wednesday to book a place in the AFC Champions League group stage for the first time.

The Philippines side advanced to Group F, where they will open their campaign against Thailand’s BG Pathum United on Saturday, with 2020 AFC Champions League winners Ulsan Hyundai FC of Korea Republic and Vietnam’s Viettel FC also in the group.

The Brazilian coach will lead his team into their first outing in the 2021 edition of the competition on Thursday when Cerezo take on Chinese Super League side Guangzhou FC in Buriram in Group J.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Asian Cup China Qualifiers Final Round contenders – Indonesia, Cambodia, Chinese Taipei and Guam – will discover their opponents tomorrow when the Play-off draw takes place in Kuala Lumpur at 3pm local time.
