New dawn for Kuwait National Women’s Futsal League
Kuwait City: The Kuwait Football Association (KFA) Women’s Committee created history when the Kuwait National Women’s Futsal League final between Kuwait Sports Club and Al Arabi Sports Club was broadcast live on national television for the first-time ever in February.

While futsal fans had the opportunity to watch the action on national TV, a record 1,000 fans, alongside the Vice Presidents of the Olympics Committee, Deputy Director of Public Authority for Sports and the KFA Chairman, gathered at the Al Kuwait Club Stadium to witness Kuwait Sports Club lift the trophy following a hard earned 2-1 victory over their opponents.
Meanwhile, Al Qadsiya Sports Club secured third place after defeating Al Fatat Sports Club in a penalty shootout, 6-4.
For the first time-ever, each club was also allowed to recruit one foreign player, and this increased competitiveness among teams as players from Islamic Republic of Iran, Bahrain, Lebanon, Palestine and Tunisia graced the 34-match competition played over 12 weeks.
The Kuwait national Women’s Futsal League was also an opportunity for KFA to leverage on the media interest covering the four-month long competition to spread awareness on sports for women and showcase the futsal talents in Kuwait.
Led by Fatema Hayat, KFA’s Head of the Women’s Football Committee, the KFA continue to develop women’s futsal in the country based on the AFC Futsal Strategic Development Plan provided by the AFC Futsal & Beach Soccer Development Department in 2018.
KFA has also hired FIFA/AFC Senior Futsal Instructor Shahrazad Mozafar from IR Iran, who led her country to the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship title in 2015 and 2018, to assist in the development of the sport in Kuwait.
