PSM Makassar win Piala Indonesia title

Jakarta: PSM Makassar clinched the Piala Indonesia after after defeating Persija Jakarta 2-0 in the return leg of the final on Tuesday.

Makassar won 2-1 on aggregate, having lost the first leg after Ryuji Utomo had scored the winner for Persija two weeks ago.

The first leg deficit was cancelled just three minutes into the second leg at the Andi Mattalatta Stadium on Tuesday as Australian Aaron Evans rose highest to head home Wiljan Pluim's corner kick.

Persija, who are enduring a tough season, found the Makassar defence hard to break down and suffered another blow when Sandi Sute was sent off in the 31st minute for a second booking.

Any hope Persija had of winning disappeared in the 50th minute when Zulham Zamrun connected to Evans' cross and Makassar held on for victory.
