Kuala Lumpur: Philippines opened their 2018 AFF Cup Group B campaign with a 1-0 win over Singapore, while Indonesia beat Timor-Leste 3-1 to claim their first three points on Tuesday.
The result marks the Philippines’ first win under newly-appointed head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson as they look towards the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 next January, where they are grouped alongside Korea Republic, China PR and Kyrgyz Republic in Group C.
Indonesia showed their resolve at the Gelora Bung Karno as they came back from a goal down to score three goals in the second half, having lost 1-0 to Singapore in their opener on Friday.
