Park Joo-ho leaves Ulsan Hyundai


Former Korea Republic international defender Park Joo-ho has left Ulsan Hyundai FC, the 2020 AFC Champions League winners announced on Wednesday, with the defender signing for newly promoted Suwon FC.

Park, who played eight times as Ulsan won the Asian title last year for the second time in their history, spent three seasons with the club after joining them from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund at the start of 2018.

The 34-year-old was also a member of the Korea Republic side that reached the final of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, where they lost in extra-time to tournament hosts Australia.

Park started his professional career in Japan with Mito Hollyhock before stints with Kashima Antlers, where he won the J.League title in 2009, and Jubilo Iwata.

The left-back then moved to Switzerland to play for FC Basel ahead of a switch to German side Mainz in 2013. In 2015 he joined Borussia Dortmund.

Park won the gold medal with Korea Republic at the 2014 Asian Games and was a member of the country’s squads at both the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cup tournaments.

He joins a Suwon FC side that gained promotion to the top flight of football in Korea Republic last season via the playoffs following a second placed finish in K League 2.
