Ulsan Hyundai sign Yun Il-lok from Montpellier


Ulsan: Ulsan Hyundai FC have bolstered their challenge for a second successive AFC Champions League title by signing Korea Republic international Yun Il-lok from French side Montpellier.

The 29-year-old returns to Korea after spending a season-and-a-half in the France’s Ligue 1 to join Hong Myung-bo’s side.

Ulsan advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2021 AFC Champions League after finishing on top of Group F in Bangkok earlier this month with a perfect record and will face Japanese champions Kawasaki Frontale in the next phase.

Yun previously played for Gyeongnam FC before joining FC Seoul in 2013, when he made substitute appearances in both legs of the AFC Champions League final loss at the hands of Guangzhou Evergrande.

He won the KFA Cup with FC Seoul in 2015 before claiming his first – and so far only – K-League title the following season.

Yun spent five seasons at FC Seoul before moving to Japan to sign for Yokohama F Marinos and then played for Jeju United prior to joining Montpellier in January 2020 on a free transfer.
