AFC match officials appointed for FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment to produce world-class referees was reinforced once again as nine AFC match officials were appointed to the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025, which will take place from September 27 to October 19, 2025.

Leading the Asian contingent are referees Ahmed Al Kaf (Oman), Khalid Al Turais (Saudi Arabia), and Nazmi Nasaruddin (Malaysia), all of whom bring significant experience from a range of AFC and FIFA competitions.

Leading the cast will be Australia’s Alireza Faghani, who will be supported by compatriots Anton Shchetinin and Ashley Beecham, appointed as assistant referees to the grand finale, bringing the tournament full circle after the trio also took charge of the opening match between Egypt’s Al Ahly SC and the USA’s Inter Miami.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) successfully concluded the AFC Referee Assessors Certification 2025 on Wednesday, reaffirming its resolve to uphold the highest officiating standards on the Continent.

Held over two days in the Malaysian capital, the programme saw 69 participants from 21 Member Associations (MAs) evaluated on their theoretical knowledge, understanding, and competency in discharging their duties as referee assessors.

Miami: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Vision and Mission of ensuring its match officials continue to grace the world’s biggest stages marked its latest milestone with three Asian officials appointed to the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which will kick off on Saturday in the United States of America (USA).

Featuring 32 teams for the first time, the competition will take place across 12 venues in 11 Host Cities, with the opening match to be played at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium between Egypt’s Al Ahly SC and the USA’s Inter Miami CF.

Wuhan: As the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League™ 2024/25 approaches its final match, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed the officials for the historic tie between Melbourne FC and Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC on Saturday.

The Final, which will decide the first-ever champions of Asia’s premier women’s club competition, will be overseen by Asaka Koizumi of Japan, who was earlier part of the roster for Melbourne FC’s Semi-final tie against Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women’s FC and the latter’s Quarter-final clash against Bam Khatoon FC.
