Phnom Penh: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s determination to nurture match officials of the highest calibre reached a significant milestone with the successful conclusion of the AFC Refereeing STAR Programme in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Friday.

Launched in 2021, the innovative education system is built on the four pillars of ‘STAR’ – Support, Transform, Adapt and Rise – offering Member Associations access to high-quality training and learning experiences.

Six AFC officials appointed for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will once again be represented on the global stage with the appointment of six match officials at the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025.

The Asian contingent will be led by referees Lara Lee of Australia and Veronika Bernatskaia of the Kyrgyz Republic – both of whom are regular fixtures in FIFA and AFC competitions – at the ninth edition of the tournament, which will be held from October 17 to November 8 in the host cities of Sale and Rabat.

Taking place simultaneously in the West and East regions, the five-day programme of the 15th edition was organised in collaboration with the Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Korea Football Association (KFA).

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment to produce world-class referees was reinforced once again as nine AFC match officials were appointed to the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025, which will take place from September 27 to October 19, 2025.

Leading the Asian contingent are referees Ahmed Al Kaf (Oman), Khalid Al Turais (Saudi Arabia), and Nazmi Nasaruddin (Malaysia), all of whom bring significant experience from a range of AFC and FIFA competitions.

AFC Referee Assessors Certification 2025 reinforces commitment to excellence

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) successfully concluded the AFC Referee Assessors Certification 2025 on Wednesday, reaffirming its resolve to uphold the highest officiating standards on the Continent.

Held over two days in the Malaysian capital, the programme saw 69 participants from 21 Member Associations (MAs) evaluated on their theoretical knowledge, understanding, and competency in discharging their duties as referee assessors.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment towards establishing the highest officiating standards was once again underlined with the appointment of three Asian officials to Sunday’s FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Final.

Leading the cast will be Australia’s Alireza Faghani, who will be supported by compatriots Anton Shchetinin and Ashley Beecham, appointed as assistant referees to the grand finale, bringing the tournament full circle after the trio also took charge of the opening match between Egypt’s Al Ahly SC and the USA’s Inter Miami.
