Ulsan fall short against Dortmund

Cincinnati: A solitary first-half goal by Daniel Svensson gave Borussia Dortmund a 1-0 win against Ulsan HD on Wednesday as the Germans secured a place in the last 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Dortmund's second straight victory by a one-goal margin, following their 4-3 defeat of Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, allowed them to qualify as winners of Group F.

Fluminense bank point to secure progress

Miami Gardens: ​​Fluminense FC have qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 knockout phase after battling out a tense 0-0 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns FC on Wednesday.

The Brazilian side needed a point to book their place in the last 16 and they successfully shut out Sundowns, who required victory to extend their stay in the USA. 

Fluminense have advanced as Group F runners-up, with Borussia Dortmund beating Ulsan HD in the section’s other fixture on Wednesday to secure top spot.

Wessam Abou Ali hit a hat-trick for Al Ahly but it was not enough to extend either team’s adventure.

With Palmeiras hitting back for a dramatic 2-2 draw with Inter Miami in Group A’s other fixture, it was the sides in action at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium who progressed, leaving both Al Ahly and Porto to take an early flight home before the Round of 16.
