Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011 finals have witnessed many firsts that heralds more exciting Asian Cups in the future.
Ali Al Hamdani of AFC’s Asian Cup Department who made a presentation at the AFC Asian Cup 2011 Conference in Kuala Lumpur on Friday touching on the championship's January finals highlighted the following new events/aspects of the championship:
• All matches were broadcast live in HD.
• Spider cams were used for the first time in AFC Competitions.
• Team bus dressing with slogans.
• Team Arrival Meeting for each Team Delegation (Players and Officials).
• Media briefing on a daily basis.
• The use of the Main Media Centre and International Broadcast Centre.
• Social Media: Facebook, Twitter (Countdown clock event was tweeted live for the first time in AFC Competitions), etc.
• Stadium dressing with different theme colours (based on the stadium seat colour)
During the presentation, Al Hamdani explained various aspects in organising the championship such as competitions, broadcasting, marketing, communications and media as well as events and logistics.
