Thimphu: A late strike from Mohammad Rihanieh earned Al Ittihad Ahli of Aleppo a hard-fought 2-1 win over Paro FC in their AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group A tie on Friday. 

The Syrian side finished behind Lebanon’s Al Ansar FC in the standings, booking their place in the quarter-finals as the best second-placed side from the three West Zone groups.

Thimphu: Al Ansar FC fought from going behind inside the first minute to defeat a spirited Paro FC of Bhutan 2-1 in their fast-paced AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group A clash on Tuesday.

The Lebanon outfit’s win at Changlimithang Stadium gives them a maximum six points ahead of their concluding match against Turkmenistan’s Ahal FC while Paro, who drew their opener, will have to go for broke against Syria’s Al Ittihad Ahli of Aleppo SC.

Thimphu:  Paro FC came back from two goals down to hold tournament debutants Ahal FC to a 2-2 stalemate in their opening AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Group A tie on Saturday.

The Turkmenistan side, ahead by two goals at the end of the first half at Changlimithang Stadium, conceded twice after the break - the second time in the 90th minute - in the face of a resurgent home side.

Chonburi: Thailand overpowered Lebanon 5-0 in their Qualifiers Group F tie to book their place at the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup China 2027™ on Sunday.

Thailand topped the group with nine points, three ahead of Lebanon with Bhutan finishing third after they beat Macau, China 3-0 in the earlier match.

Latest edition of AFC Knowledge Sharing Programme gets underway

Kuala Lumpur: The latest edition of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Knowledge Sharing Programme (KSP) commenced on Thursday.

In its 21st iteration, the landmark initiative will feature one candidate from the Bhutan Football Federation (BFF), who will be assigned to the Confederation’s Member Association (MA) Division from September 10 to 30.

Thimphu: Chinese Taipei clinched top spot in Group J after defeating Singapore 2-0 in the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers Development Phase on Sunday.

Second half strikes from Sung Chi-Chan maintained Chinese Taipei’s perfect record with Singapore claiming second place.

Bhutan registered their first win after sailing 7-0 past Macau to finish third in the standings.

Qualifiers - Group J: Macau, China 0-1 Singapore; Bhutan 1-2 Chinese Taipei

Thimphu: Singapore and Chinese Taipei confirmed their berths after staying unbeaten in their AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers Development Phase Group J fixtures at the Changlimithang Stadium on Thursday.

Singapore defeated Macau, China 1-0, while Chinese Taipei held off a battling Bhutan 2-1 to secure their berth in the qualification rounds for the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2029.

Both sides will face off on Sunday to decide the group winners.
