Landmark ACFAM hybrid programme expands to Brunei Darussalam

Bandar Seri Begawan: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has brought its AFC Certificate in Football Administration and Management (ACFAM) hybrid programme to Brunei Darussalam, marking another step forward in reinforcing football administration and management expertise across its Member Associations (MAs).

Hosted and facilitated by the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD), the programme kicked off today with 29 participants who come from the Association, clubs and other key football stakeholders.

Yangon: Myanmar signed off their AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers Group K Development Phase campaign with a 6-0 win against Maldives on Sunday.

Both teams had already secured promotion to the Qualification Phase of the next edition with the victory seeing the hosts finishing three points ahead of their opponents.

The other game saw Sri Lanka defeat Brunei Darussalam 2-0 to end on a positive note.

Yangon: Myanmar and Maldives turned on the power to guarantee themselves a top two finish in Group K of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers on Thursday.

Myanmar beat Brunei Darussalam 7-0 while Maldives defeated Sri Lanka 4-0 with the wins ensuring they will finish in the top two spots and book their place in the qualification phase for the next edition, regardless of the outcome of their clash on Sunday.

In the later match, Maldives registered a 2-0 win over Brunei Darussalam.

Uzbekistan 2027 hopefuls discover qualification path

Kuala Lumpur: Teams aiming to vie for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027™ title discovered their Qualifiers challenge following the Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The 35 teams were divided into seven groups of five to contest a single round-robin centralised league for the qualifying rounds that run from November 8 to 20, 2026.

The seven group winners will join the nine AFC representatives from the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026 who have automatically qualified - Australia, China PR, Japan (defending champions), Korea Republic, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam - in the Finals.

AFC Governance Workshop strengthens FABD capacity

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Governance Workshop concluded successfully in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday, marking yet another instance of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s efforts to maximise the potential of its Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations through tailored services.

Attended by 32 participants from the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) as well as the FABD Normalisation Committee, the programme was organised with the primary objective of aiding members of the FABD to strengthen their understanding of good governance practices while supporting their efforts towards the sustainable development of football in the Southeast Asian nation.

#AFCU20 China 2027 - Stage set for Qualifiers

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers are set to be a scintillating affair following the Official Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

To be staged between August 25 and September 6, 2026 in a centralised league system, these Qualifiers will feature the implementation of a new format as part of key reforms to the AFC’s youth competitions that were ratified earlier this year.

Designed to ensure more meaningful matches and opportunities for teams to compete against opponents of similar technical competency, a two-phase system featuring a promotion and relegation mechanism has been introduced.

Guwahati: Bhutan came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory against Brunei Darussalam in their concluding AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Qualifiers Group B tie on Tuesday.

Hakeme Yazid Said opened the scoring with a curling effort before Bhutan struck back with a brace from Chencho Gyeltshen to secure the first win of their campaign as they finished third with four points, with Brunei Darussalam one adrift.

Chongqing: China PR confirmed their AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ ticket with a 4-0 win against Bangladesh on Sunday.

The victory meant China PR finished with a perfect 15 points, with Bangladesh three adrift.

Bahrain and Timor-Leste, meanwhile, completed their campaigns with victories against Brunei Darussalam and Sri Lanka respectively.
