ASEAN Wrap: JDT Malaysian champs yet again

Kuala Lumpur: Johor Darul Ta'zim defeated Brunei DPMM 3-0 to confirm a 12th consecutive Malaysia Super League title with five matches to spare.

Indonesia’s title race remained tense as Persib Bandung were held by Borneo in a clash between the top two while Thailand’s Buriram United continued their dominant march at the summit with a convincing win. Cong An Ha Noi FC strengthened their position at the top in Vietnam with another important three points.

QF (2nd Leg): Bangkok stand firm to book ticket

Singapore: Bangkok United squeezed into the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™ on Thursday as a 2-2 draw with Tampines Rovers at Jalan Besar Stadium earned the Thai League 1 outfit a 4-3 aggregate quarter-final win.

Teerasil Danga’s 15th minute strike gave Bangkok United the perfect start as they built on their 2-1 victory from the first leg before Trent Buhagiar levelled in the 39th minute, only for Ilias Alhaft to restore his side’s advantage with three minutes left in the half.

That left Tampines Rovers needing to score two unanswered goals in the second half to take the tie to extra time and, although Koya Kazama levelled on the night with 19 minutes remaining, Bangkok United held on to progress.

Ratchaburi: Welton Felipe’s goal in the ninth minute of extra time sent Gamba Osaka into the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™ East Zone semi-finals after they beat Ratchaburi FC 2-1 in the return leg of their last eight tie at the Ratchaburi Stadium on Wednesday.

A brilliant strike from Gamba’s Genta Miura was offset by an opportunistic goal by Gleyson before Felipe struck the winner for the Japanese side, who had dominated the tie but couldn’t finish the job in regulation time as they advanced 3-2 on aggregate.

Buriram: Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge paid tribute to the fans after guiding Buriram United past Melbourne City FC in a tense penalty shootout in their AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26 Round of 16 second leg tie on Tuesday.

The Filipino custodian, who made two crucial saves to help his side win 4-2 on penalties, praised both his teammates’ commitment and the unwavering support of the fans.

R16: Buriram win shootout to book spot

Buriram: Neil Etheridge was the hero with two saves in the shootout as Buriram United defeated Melbourne City FC 4-2 on penalties in their AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ Round of 16 second leg tie on Tuesday.

Custodian Etheridge stepped up after the match at Buriram Stadium - which saw both sides reduced to 10 men - ended in a goalless stalemate after 120 minutes, having played to a 1-1 draw in last week’s first leg.

Pathum Thani: Bangkok United had to settle for a 2-1 win against Tampines Rovers in their AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™ quarter-final first leg tie on Thursday.

Goals from Nebojsa Kosovic and Picha Autra gave Bangkok the advantage before Trent Buhagiar reduced the deficit for Tampines to set up an intriguing return leg at the Jalan Besar Stadium next week.

Melbourne: Ben Mazzeo’s late header earned Melbourne City a 1-1 draw with Buriram United on Tuesday to leave their AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ Round of 16 clash evenly poised ahead of the second leg in Thailand next week.

Guilherme Bissoli had crashed in an unstoppable strike in the 37th minute at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium to give the Thai League 1 champions the lead but Marcus Younis’ run set up substitute Mazzeo to nod in the equaliser five minutes into stoppage time.
 
Buriram United will be looking to reach the quarter-finals for the second season in a row while Melbourne City will be attempting to extend their first-ever run in the competition’s knockout rounds.
