Chinese Taipei’s focus impresses White

Kaohsiung City: Chinese Taipei head coach Gary White was delighted after his team secured their FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 berth after defeating Timor Leste 3-0 on Monday.

Three quick-fire goals capped an impressive performance as Chinese Taipei advanced with a 7-0 aggregate win.

Kaohsiung City: Chinese Taipei cruised into the next stage in style after defeating Timor Leste 3-0 in the second leg of their FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 tie on Monday.

Chinese Taipei’s three-goal blitz in the first half gave them a 7-0 aggregate win, taking them through to Round 2, where they will have Oman, Kyrgyz Republic and Malaysia for company in Group D.

Kaohsiung City: Chinese Taipei’s Ange Samuel believes experience and confidence were the keys for their 4-0 win over Timor-Leste in their Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ first leg tie on Thursday. 

Chinese Taipei took a 1-0 lead going into the break before overwhelming their opponents in the second half to leave Timor-Leste with a mountain to climb heading into Tuesday’s return leg.

The result places the East Asian side firmly in the driver’s seat going into Tuesday’s return leg.

Qualifiers - Group F: Kuwait defeat Bahrain to cap perfect campaign

Manama: Kuwait capped a perfect AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Qualifiers campaign, claiming their third win on the trot with a 5-3 victory against Bahrain in their final Group F match on Wednesday.

In an earlier match, Timor-Leste picked themselves up from two earlier defeats to end the Qualifiers on a positive note by defeating Brunei Darussalam 8-0.

Qualifiers - Group F: Kuwait, Bahrain go through

Manama: Kuwait and Bahrain secured their places in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 after both achieved wins in Group F of the Qualifiers on Monday.

Kuwait defeated Timor-Leste 8-1 and Bahrain beat Brunei Darussalam 6-1, giving both teams maximum points after two matches and in doing so, booking their spots in the Finals with one game to spare.

Manama: Kuwait came from behind to defeat Brunei Darussalam 4-2 in Group F of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Qualifiers on Saturday.

Hosts Bahrain, meanwhile, were made to toil before securing a 1-0 win over Timor-Leste in the group's second match.

Qualifiers - Group F: Resilient Iraq fight back to advance

Kuwait City: Former champions Iraq showed great determination as they came from two behind to force a 2-2 draw with Kuwait in the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Qatar 2024 Qualifiers on Tuesday.

The fightback meant Iraq topped Group F ahead of Kuwait on goal difference, with both teams finishing on seven points. 
 
Earlier Timor-Leste produced a five-star performance to end their campaign with three points.

Kuwait City: Iraq secured their second straight big win in Group F, beating Timor Leste 6-0 in the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ 2024 Qualifiers on Saturday.

In the other game, Kuwait's improved second half display earned them a 3-0 win over Macau, a result which means they will face off with Iraq to decide the group winners on Tuesday.

Kuwait City: Iraq were simply unstoppable as they defeated Macau 13-0 in Group F of the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Qatar 2024 Qualifiers at the Kuwait Sports Club Stadium on Wednesday.

Hosts Kuwait also got off to a winning start, defeating Timor-Leste 4-0 to keep pace with their West Asian neighbours.

Southeast Asia’s finest prepare for Qatar 2024

Rayong: The stage is set for the fourth edition of the AFF U23 Championship, with the competing teams not only chasing regional glory but also using the tournament to prepare for the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Qatar 2024 Qualifiers scheduled to begin on September 6.

The AFF U23 Championship kicks off on Thursday with the final on August 26 with matches to be played at the Rayong Stadium and the Rayong Provincial Stadium.

The tournament sees the 10 teams divided into three groups with the group winners and the best runners-up from the three groups advancing to the semi-finals.

Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 Draw Finalised

Kuala Lumpur: The draw for the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ was completed at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

A total 20 teams were divided into 10 pairings, with each pair to play one home and one away match on October 12 and 17, 2023 respectively.
