Joy for Nasaf’s Berdiev; disappointment for Sharjah’s Morais

Sharjah: There was - finally - delight for Ruzikul Berdiev in the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ after his PFC Nasaf side concluded their campaign with a 2-1 win against Sharjah FC on Monday.

After a difficult season which had seen the Uzbekistan side lose six of their seven previous matches, Berdiev was happy to see his players close out their continental journey on a positive note.

Baghdad: Al Duhail SC’s Round of 16 hopes were left hanging by a thread following a 3-2 defeat to Al Shorta in their AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ tie on Monday.

The defeat left Qatar’s Al Duhail seventh in the West Zone standings on eight points but they will be denied progression if fellow Qatari sides win their concluding League Stage matches on Tuesday.

Al Shorta, who came from behind to clinch victory, signed off in style with the Iraqi side notching their first win in the final match of their campaign.

Riyadh:  Al Hilal SFC capped a sterling AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ League Stage with a 2-1 win against Al Wahda FC on Monday.

It was a near-perfect campaign for Simone Inzaghi’s Saudi Arabian side with this being their seventh win as they finished on 22 points, with United Arab Emirates’ Al Wahda eight adrift but also through to the Round of 16.

Jeddah:  Al Ahli Saudi FC defeated Shabab Al Ahli 4-3 in their concluding AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ tie at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium on Monday.

The victory for the defending champions means Al Ahli look set to finish second in the standings while defeat didn’t prove costly for Shabab Al Ahli as they were confirmed of their Round of 16 spot following fellow UAE side Sharjah FC’s shock defeat to PFC Nasaf of Uzbekistan.

Sharjah: Diyorbek Abdunazarov struck three minutes from time to earn PFC Nasaf a 2-1 victory over Sharjah FC on Monday as the side from Uzbekistan picked up their first win in the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ and all but end their opponents hopes of reaching the last 16.

The defender hit an unstoppable drive past Adel Al Hosani to restore his side’s lead after Caio Lucas’s 80th minute penalty had cancelled out a Khaled Ebraheim own goal that had put the visitors in front on the half-hour mark.
 
The result leaves the side from the United Arab Emirates on eight points and outside the top eight places in the West Zone standings while Nasaf had already been eliminated prior to the meeting at Sharjah Stadium.
