Group B: China PR 2-0 Bangladesh

Sydney: China PR began their title defence in positive fashion after securing a 2-0 win against debutants Bangladesh in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ Group B tie at Western Sydney Stadium on Tuesday.

Two first half goals earned the nine-time champions the winning start as they joined DPR Korea - who defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 in the earlier tie - as the early pacesetters in the group.

Gold Coast: Facing stubborn resistance from the Islamic Republic of Iran in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ opener on Monday, an unlikely star emerged for Korea Republic.

Kim Hye-ri stepped up to coolly dispatch a penalty in the 59th minute, before curling in an inch-perfect free-kick delivery 16 minutes later for Ko Yoo-jin to head in the third goal of a 3-0 win at the Perth Stadium to send the East Asians top of Group C.

Gold Coast: A dominant performance might have seen Korea Republic take all three points in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ opener on Monday, but it did not leave Shin Sang-woo entirely satisfied.
