Kuala Lumpur:  Takumi Minamono was joined by Ritsu Doan on the scoresheet as Japan eased 2-0 past Ghana in an international friendly on Friday.

Korea Republic and Uzbekistan defeated Bolivia and Egypt 2-0 respectively, Saudi Arabia edged Ivory Coast 1-0, Jordan suffered a 3-2 defeat, while Australia were edged 1-0 by Venezuela as Asia’s FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers continued their buildup to the global showpiece.

Group L: Saudi Arabia 0-2 Mali

Doha: Saudi Arabia’s FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 campaign came to an end after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Mali in their concluding Group L tie on Tuesday.

Champions in 1989, Saudi Arabia missed out on a Round of 32 spot by the slimmest of margins with Mexico advancing as the last of the eight best third-placed teams on their fair play record after both sides finished on three points and identical goal difference.

While Saudi Arabia missed out, Asia will be represented by DPR Korea, Japan, Korea Republic and Uzbekistan in the knockout stage.

DPR Korea will meet Venezuela, Japan will battle it out with South Africa, Korea Republic will lock horns with England and Uzbekistan will square off against Croatia in the Round of 32.

Doha: A last-gasp Thari Saeed strike earned Saudi Arabia a dramatic 3-2 win against New Zealand in their FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 Group L tie on Saturday.

The win revived Saudi Arabia's chances of reaching the Round of 32 as they drew level on three points with Mali, their final Group L opponents on Tuesday.

Riyadh: Al Nassr Club inched closer to a spot in the knockout stage of the AFC Champions League Two™ 2025/26 after defeating FC Goa 4-0 at King Saud University Stadium on Wednesday.

With four wins, Al Nassr hold a six-point advantage over Iraq’s Al Zawraa SC and FC Istiklol of Tajikistan and Jorge Jesus’ side only need to avoid defeat in their next match against Istiklol to go through.

Doha: Al Ahli Saudi FC staved off a second half fightback to defeat Al Sadd SC 2-1 in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26 tie at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday.

Riyad Mahrez’s first half strike was cancelled out by Claudinho in the 63rd minute, only for Matheus Goncalves to respond with the winner five minutes later to seal a third victory for the defending champions.
