AG (M): Uzbekistan, Korea Republic one step closer

Kuala Lumpur: Uzbekistan and Korea Republic checked into the Asian Games 2026 men’s football semi-finals after picking up victories in their respective quarter-final clashes on Friday.

Uzbekistan were 3-0 winners against Saudi Arabia while Korea Republic produced a dominant 4-0 win against Vietnam.

Kuala Lumpur: DPR Korea, China PR, Japan and Korea Republic advanced to the Asian Games 2026 women’s football semi-finals in contrasting fashions after the completion of the quarter-finals on Friday.

Tuesday’s semi-final ties will see DPR Korea take on China PR while Japan face off against Korea Republic.

Kuala Lumpur: The concluding day of the Asian Games 2026 Group Stage for women’s football on Monday saw eight sides book their berths in the quarter-finals.

Japan, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Korea Republic, China PR, Uzbekistan, Philippines and Vietnam all advanced to the last eight stage.

DPR Korea will face Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals, Japan play the Philippines, China PR take on Vietnam while Korea Republic will battle it out with Uzbekistan with the matches to be played on Friday and Saturday.

Kyrgyz Republic defeat Tajikistan to clinch maiden title

Tashkent: Kyrgyz Republic were crowned CAFA U17 Women’s Championship 2026 champions after defeating Tajikistan 2-0 in their final match on Saturday. 

Goals from Perizat Zairbekova and Akak Ishembieva secured the victory, with Antonio Mesa’s side finishing the four-team tournament unbeaten on seven points.

Riffa: Uzbekistan’s PFC Nasaf kept hosts Al Khaldiya SC at bay to claim a 0-0 draw to secure a share of the points from their opening Group A match in the AFC Champions League Two 2026/27™ on Wednesday.

Neither side was able to find a way through at the Bahrain National Stadium as the teams kicked off their campaign, which will also see them take on Al Wahda from the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait SC during the group phase.

Kuala Lumpur: Uzbekistan and defending champions Korea Republic opened their Asian Games 2026 men’s campaigns in emphatic fashion on Tuesday.

Uzbekistan defeated the Philippines 5-1 in Group C, while Vietnam and Kuwait shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Korea Republic, meanwhile, powered 4-1 past Qatar in Group D.

Jeddah: Defending champions Al Ahli Saudi FC needed a stoppage-time equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw against Pakhtakor in their AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27™ opener at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Monday.

Goalkeeper Vladimir Nazarov produced a string of saves to frustrate the two-time winners before Flamarion put Pakhtakor ahead five minutes from time, only for Firas Al Brikan to rescue Al Ahli in the third minute of stoppage time.

Fergana: Zoran Marusic’s late header earned PFC Neftchi a 1-0 victory over Iraq’s Air Force FC on Monday as the side from Uzbekistan made a winning start to their AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27™ campaign in Fergana.

The Serbian forward rose to meet Koffi Kouao’s cross from the right in the 83rd minute to ensure Islombek Ismoilov’s side saw their superiority reap a deserved win in the club’s first appearance in this season’s competition.

 

Neftchi had looked destined to end the evening frustrated by a series of missed opportunities that threatened to force the hosts into a share the points with their Iraqi visitors until Marusic nodded in the winner.
