March 8 – International Women’s Day – is the perfect occasion to reflect on the unwavering commitment and dedication showcased by our Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations (RAs) to women’s football over the years.

Kuala Lumpur: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has congratulated Australia on securing their first-ever AFC U20 Asian Cup™ title after defeating three-time winners Saudi Arabia on penalties in the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 Final at the Baoan Sports Centre Stadium in Shenzhen on Saturday.

With the final ending 1-1 after 120 minutes, goalkeeper Steven Hall was the star after saving Bassam Hazazi’s spot-kick as Australia defeated Saudi Arabia 5-4 on penalties.

Kuala Lumpur: Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President, has congratulated DPR Korea on sealing a landmark third FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title as the East Asians defeated Spain 4-3 on penalties after both sides played to a 1-1 draw in a thrilling Final at the Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in the Dominican Republic capital of Santo Domingo on Sunday.

The victory reaffirms DPR Korea’s dominance as the tournament’s most successful side with three titles and marks the second time in history that the East Asians have secured both the women’s U-20 and U-17 world titles in the same year, following similar achievements in 2016.

Progress of football in the Kyrgyz Republic lauded by Shaikh Salman

Bishkek: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa held several high-level meetings with the Kyrgyz Republic President His Excellency Sadyr Japarov as well as The Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU)’s President Kamchybek Tashiev during his visit to the Republic, which concluded on Sunday.

The AFC President expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the KFU President on his successful election to the position in February this year and reinforced the Confederation’s support in elevating the standards of football in the Kyrgyz Republic. Shaikh Salman commended the efforts of the KFU, most notably its strong sense of partnership with the Government to develop the Republic’s football infrastructure.
