Kuala Lumpur: With three former Asian world champions—including the current title-holders—set to compete for glory at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2025, Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President has outlined his confidence in Asia’s rising stars to create more history in Rabat.

Scheduled to take place from October 17 to November 8, the global showpiece enters a new era with an expanded 24-team format for the first time with DPR Korea looking to clinch a record-extending fourth title, and Japan and Korea Republic eyeing a second crown whilst China PR aim to create history with their first.

Road to glory paved for Asia's best

Rabat: Asia's representatives discovered their challengers for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2025 following the draw on Wednesday.

The continent will be represented by China PR, DPR Korea, Japan and Korea Republic with the tournament - expanded to 24 teams - to run from October 17 to November 8.

The six group winners and runners-up, along with the four best ranked third-placed sides, will advance to the Round of 16.

Kuala Lumpur: DPR Korea emerged champions of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Dominican Republic 2024 after defeating Spain on penalties in the final.

It was a record third title for DPR Korea, who dominated the tournament from the first blow of the whistle.

Asia's other representatives were Japan and Korea Republic with the tournament being the final 16-team affair with the 2025 edition to be expanded to 24 nations.

DPR Korea create history

Santo Domingo: DPR Korea defeated Spain 4-3 on penalties after the final finished 1-1 to lift the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Dominican Republic 2024 title at the Felix Sanchez Stadium on Sunday.

The AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup™ champions faced their greatest challenge yet, overcoming a second half deficit to force spot-kicks, where they emerged superior to win their record third U-17 Women’s World Cup crown, having also emerged champions in 2006 and 2016.

The triumph completed an impressive double, with DPR Korea having won the FIFA U-20 Women's World Colombia 2024 title in September, the second time the East Asians have lifted both trophies in the same year.
