Kuala Lumpur: AFC’s Executive Director of Competitions Division Windsor John praised the role played by the Local General Coordinators (LGCs) and the Local Media Officers (LMOs) in conducting the huge amount of matches in the continent last year.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the LMO Seminar here on Monday, he said seminars like these will help participants to understand each other better and deliver a high level of organisation of competitions for teams and players.
“We would not have achieved what we did without the support of match commissioners, LGCs and LMOs in ensuring that AFC could organise a huge amount of matches successfully last year,” he told the participants.
“The role of these officials is crucial for direct success of all the matches. The match commissioners reach the venue a few days in advance but it is the LGCs and the LMOs who prepare the venue. Their commitment and cooperation for the organisation of a match plays an important role in the match organisation’s success.”
He asked the participants to equip themselves for the new season.
“I would like to ask you to equip yourself by exchanging ideas and experiences in this seminar in order to achieve the same success in 2013,” he added.
Thirty-six participants and observers from 10 AFC Champions League participating countries are taking part in the two-day LMO seminar.
