Kuala Lumpur: Around 40 AFC Match Commissioner candidates from throughout the continent got their first lessons in competition organisation as the four-day AFC Match Commissioners’ Seminar began at the AFC House on Sunday.
AFC Executive Director of Competitions Division, Windsor John highlighted the roles and responsibilities of an AFC Match Commissioner and thanked the General Secretaries of the AFC Member Associations and the match commissioners for their help in organising matches last year.
“We organised over 600 AFC matches and about 55 FIFA matches last year and this was possible only because of the hard work done by the AFC Match Commissioners,” he told the participants.
“I would also like to thank the General Secretaries of the Member Associations who allowed their staff to be match commissioners and also helped them discharge their duties successfully during games.”
The participants were informed about the AFC competitions structure. They will be taken to the Shah Alam Stadium for an inspection and pre-match ceremony rehearsal.
During the seminar, they will be informed about the regulations and policies, safety and security, conduct of Team Managers’ Meeting and press conferences, online AFC Administrative System (AFCAS), etc.
