Transform Specialist Medical Centre joins distinguished AFC Medical Centre of Excellence network

Dubai: The Transform Specialist Medical Centre became the latest addition to the world-class medical centres acknowledged by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

While the event took place on January 12, 2023,  the recognition was originally bestowed upon the Centre in October 2019 with the ceremony scheduled to take place in March 2020.  However, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed to January 2023.

Over 500,000 tickets sold for Australia & New Zealand 2023

Sydney: Fans from more than 120 countries have purchased over 500,000 tickets for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023. 

The tournament, set to be played on July 20-August 20, moved past 500,000 ticket sales last week, with the most sought-after match of the tournament being the final at Stadium Australia in Sydney.

Coaches applaud players after Iraq, Oman set up decider

Basra: The head coaches of Iraq and Oman hailed their players after the teams reached the 2023 Gulf Cup final on Monday.

Iraq defeated Qatar 2-1 in their last four tie while Oman dethroned Bahrain with a 1-0 win to advance to Thursday's final.
 
Iraq will be seeking a fourth title while Oman will be looking to complete a hat-trick when the two teams square off at the Basra International Stadium.

Thailand clinch record seventh title

Pathum Thani: Thailand clinched the 2022 AFF Cup with a 1-0 victory over Vietnam in the second leg of the final on Monday, winning 3-2 on aggregate to lift the title for a record-extending seventh time.

Skipper Theerathon Bunmathan scored in the 24th minute as outgoing Vietnam head Park Hang-seo was denied the perfect farewell.

Singapore’s Song Ui-young joins Nongbua Pitchaya

Singapore: Singapore international midfielder Song Ui-young has joined Thai League 1 outfit Nongbua Pitchaya from Lion City Sailors.

The 29-year-old leaves the Sailors having spent 12 years with the Jalan Besar-based club, where he played 168 times and scored 80 goals, including when they were known as Home United.
