AFC Coach Education Online session concludes successfully

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment in raising the capabilities of its Member Associations (MAs) was once again underlined at the recent AFC Coach Education Online session. 

The virtual workshop saw 80 participants from 28 Member Associations come together to discuss the various ways by which coaches in Asia can be equipped with the latest knowledge and tools to ensure the steadfast development of coach educators.

Abha: Yemen took a significant step towards the next round, defeating Sri Lanka 3-0 at Damac Club Stadium in the first leg of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ on Thursday.

The emphatic win placed the West Asian side in a comfortable position ahead of the second leg on Tuesday.

Dushanbe: Afghanistan walked away from the Republican Central Stadium in Tajikistan with a valuable 1-0 victory over Mongolia in the first leg of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™  on Thursday.

The two teams face-off again in a week in Ulaanbaatar for the second leg.

Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1: Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: The quest to reach the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ begins for 20 Asian teams on Thursday in the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1.

Having been divided into 10 pairings at the official draw ceremony two months ago, these sides will play two-legged ties – one home and one away match, with the return leg on Tuesday.  
 
The winners on aggregate of each pairing then proceed to Round 2, where they join the remaining 26 Member Associations to continue their campaign.

Phnom Penh: Cambodia and Pakistan shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ at the National Olympic Stadium on Thursday.

The two teams lock horns again in a week’s time in Islamabad to decide which side advances to the second round.

Jakarta: Indonesia cruised to a 6-0 victory over Brunei Darussalam in the first leg of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Thursday.

Early goals from Dimas Drajad and Rizky Ridho had the hosts 2-0 up at half-time before substitute Ramadhan Sananta added a brace after the restart.

Dimas netted his second with a little under 20 minutes to play and his hat-trick in stoppage time to wrap up a comfortable night for the Indonesians.
