AFC Grassroots Football Day celebrated throughout Asia

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) along with its 41 Member Associations (MAs) celebrated the return of the AFC Grassroots Football Day.

Various activities and campaigns were organised across the Continent by MAs while putting in place the highest health and safety regulations in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Youth volunteers do their part to help people with visual disabilities

Hong Kong: The Hong Kong Football Association LTD. (HKFA), an AFC Grassroots Charter Bronze member, recently launched a Special Education Needs (SEN) volunteer programme to help the visually impaired and blind enjoy the experience of football.

HKFA recruited U18 and U16 youth players to join the volunteer programme where they were given proper knowledge and skills to help those with visual disabilities attend Hong Kong Premier League (HKPL) matches.

Grassroots sessions continue with focus on school football 

Kuala Lumpur: Grassroots leaders in Asia gained valuable insights on how to promote football in schools in the latest Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) Technical Focus-Group Session on Tuesday.

Organised for Benchmarking Member Associations (MA), AFC Technical Director Andy Roxburgh opened the session by highlighting football’s role in the post-pandemic era and explained the different categories of grassroots football.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) dedication to build on the strong foundations of football and to ensure that football remains the number one sport in the Continent was further strengthened as 41 Member Associations (MAs) pledged to join the AFC Grassroots Football Day 2021 celebrations.

Following the highest health and safety protocols, more than 230,000 participants of all ages, backgrounds and abilities from across Asia are expected to join the annual football festival organised by the MAs.

Held virtually, the session was designed to provide grassroots managers with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and exchange the latest developments in the grassroots movement in Asia.

Surat Thani: The Football Association of Thailand (FA Thailand)’s commitment towards growing the passion for football continues to grow in strength and depth with the conclusion of the Surat Thani PAO (Provincial Authority Organization) Grassroots Football programme which has engaged over 600 children since its launch in February 2021.

The three-month series of activities is part of the FA Thailand’s strategy to partner with local stakeholders including the Surat Thani PAO, which is the largest Southern Province in Thailand, to further expand the reach of football by providing more opportunities and access to some of the most marginalised communities in the country.

Grassroots administrators benefit from CFA’s grassroots conference 

Beijing: The Chinese Football Association (CFA)’s commitment to enhance the development of grassroots football across the country was further strengthened on Monday following the conclusion of its annual Grassroots Conference 2021.

The CFA introduced a variety of grassroots activities such as the Football-for-All Tournaments, the “Dream China” Social Responsibility Programme, the AFC Grassroots Football Day as well as the establishment of an evaluation system for grassroots clubs and tournaments which will be launched in the coming months.
