Bishkek: A delegation from the AFC Futsal Development Programme made a three-day assessment visit to the Football Federation of Kyrgyz Republic with the aim of developing and improving futsal in the Central Asian country.
Dastanbek Konokbaev, the General Secretary of Football Federation of Kyrgyz Republic (FFKR), received the team led by AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Development Director Ali Targholizade.
“The most important thing is the direction of FFKR towards the development of futsal in this country and we are willing to work closely with the AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Development team,” said Konokbaev at the start of the visit.
“Futsal is a popular sport in Kyrgyzstan so this will help improve our game.”
Targholizade believes futsal can be improved further in Kyrgyzstan who are one of the strong national sides in the region.
“Futsal is the foundation for football,” he said. “Kyrgyzstan are one of the strong teams in the AFC Futsal Championship from the South and Central region and are one of the pioneer countries in Asia who have consistently qualified for the final round from 1999 until now.”
Also present in the meeting were FFKR Futsal Committee Members, coaches, referees, as well as media representatives.
After the kick-off meeting, the AFC team continued with other meetings, field visits and inspections.
Kyrgyzstan is one of the beneficiary countries under the AFC Futsal Development Programme which helps MAs in various aspects of futsal development such as governance and administration, league and competition, grassroots and youth, national teams, coach education and referee development.
