Ground-breaking AFC Grassroots Charter continues to gain momentum

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) commitment to expand the reach of football across the Continent, as outlined in its Vision and Mission, was further strengthened at the 10th AFC Grassroots Panel meeting which was held online on Thursday.

Led by AFC Technical Director Andy Roxburgh, the Panel confirmed the addition of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) as the latest member of the AFC Grassroots Charter under the Bronze category.

BFF focuses on targeted grassroots development across Bangladesh

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will further enhance the development of Grassroots football as well as improve the quality of Grassroots coaches by implementing dynamic programmes in the country.

BFF has launched a roadmap to promote Grassroots football in divisions and districts of Bangladesh.

The first programme successfully started on November 18 in the regions of Feni, Madaripur and Nilphamari where approximately 600 boys and 180 girls participated in the football programmes organised by BFF.

All Nepal FA receives AFC Grassroots Charter Bronze Membership

Kathmandu: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has been awarded the AFC Grassroots Charter Bronze Membership for its continuous efforts and commitment in developing grassroots football.

With the aim of developing the game through increased participation of young boys, girls, teachers, and coaches in their own environment, the ANFA has been committed to improving three areas – player programmes, grassroots competitions, and planning - in recent years to realise its vision on grassroots football development.

Palestine school students benefit from fun-filled Grassroots Festival

Al Ram: The Palestine Football Association (PFA) organised 11 fun-filled grassroots festivals from October 14 to 29 in their bid to resume grassroots activities as well as schools that cancelled sports activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festivals put smiles on 1,580 students which included 80% participation from girls in the various football activities designed by the PFA.

Students from the schools of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and Palestine Ministry of Education (MoE) were divided into different classes for football games, training stations and matches.

PFA honours Grassroots Coach Volunteer of the Year

Al Ram: The Palestine Football Association (PFA) awarded Khalid Abu Ghoush as the Best Grassroots Coach Volunteer of the Year at their Grassroots Annual Award 2019-2020 for his contribution in volunteering the PFA grassroots activities which include attending training sessions, participating grassroots festival, and assisting in grassroots competition.

Organised by the PFA Grassroots Department, the Grassroots Coach Volunteer of the Year award recognises the efforts of volunteers for growing the grassroots game and for developing football in accordance with 10 Criteria which include enthusiasm, responsiveness to players, children’s services, physical and emotional education, patience, interpretation of the Laws of the Game, sportsmanship, time management, relationship with players as well as the feedback from parents.

CFA launches online grassroots football programme

Beijing: The Chinese Football Association (CFA), in collaboration with HUAAO (a Chinese sports industry resource trade service platform) and Douyin, a social media platform, has launched an online grassroots football programme titled “Football for All Challenge”, which aims to strengthen the public enthusiasm for football during this challenging period. 

From China PR legend Sun Wen, head coach of the men’s team Li Tie and women’s head coach Jia Xiuquan, to the current football stars and fans in China PR, the project has attracted more than 1,500 football enthusiasts who uploaded short videos of their skills such as 1v1, free kicks, dribbling and ball control on Douyin under the #FootballforAllChallenge. A total of 16 players from the CFA Super League (CSL) clubs have been selected as ambassadors of this activity to share their football experiences through clubs’ accounts.

Young players in Hong Kong benefit from landmark online learning programme

Hong Kong: To further strengthen a lifelong passion for football, the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) partnered with the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Charities Trust, to launch an Online Learning Programme to engage with young football players during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

More than 1,500 players from the ages of four to 17, participated in the informative online lessons that consisted of various topics such as warm-up/cool-down activities, football exercises, physical drills and mini lectures of football related knowledge.

Jerry, a participant from the Boy’s programme, said: “It was helpful to follow the coaches and do some exercises by attending the online training classes organised by the HKFA. Despite not being able to play football with my teammates on the pitch, we could still see each other and learn through the online platform.”
