Belo Horizonte: DPR Korea referee Ri Hyang-ok has been selected to take charge of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament semi-final match between Canada and Germany on Tuesday (local time) in Belo Horizonte.
The appointment is her third of the competition where she started by officiating the Group G match between France and Colombia on August 3 which saw the French beat their opponents 4-0.
The 38-year-old subsequently went on to take charge of the Group F tie where Canada beat Germany 2-1 on August 9.
Ri is no stranger to high-level competitions, having officiated four matches in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015, including the third-place match between Germany and England.
An international referee since 2007, Ri will be joined at the semi-final by assistant referees, compatriot Hong Kum-nyo and Australian Allyson Flynn, as well as fourth official from Chile Maria Carvajal.
