Ri Hyang-ok to referee Women's World Cup third place match

Edmonton: Ri Hyang-ok of DPR Korea has been selected to referee the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 third place match between Germany and England at the Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday (local time).

The appointment is her fourth in the competition where she started by officiating the Group D match between Sweden and Nigeria on June 8, followed by the Group A encounter between the Netherlands and hosts Canada on June 15.

The 37-year-old subsequently went on to take charge of the Round of 16 tie that saw Germany defeat Sweden 4-1 on June 20.

Ri, an international referee since 2007, will be assisted in the third place match by Hong Kum-nyo also from DPR Korea and Korea Republic’s Kim Kyoung-min.

Both assistant referees were also members of Ri’s refereeing trio in her two previous Group Stage appointments.
