Brasilia: Nawaf Shukralla will take charge of his second appointment at the 2014 FIFA World Cup when the Bahraini referee officiates Portugal's clash with Ghana at the Estadio Nacional as the Group G campaign comes to a close on Thursday.
Shukralla is only the second Bahraini to officiate at a World Cup following Ebrahim Al Doy who refereed the Hungary-El Salvador clash in Spain 1982.
A FIFA international referee since 2007, Shukralla made his debut in the World Cup in the match between Australia and Spain at the Arena da Baixada which saw the 2010 champions beating the Aussies 3-0 but both sides failed to advance to the Round of 16.
During the match, Shukralla issued yellow cards to Australia's Mile Jedinak and Matthew Spiranovic and also to Spain's Sergio Ramos.
Apart from the World Cup, the 38-year-old referee from Manama has also officiated matches at the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup, the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey, where he refereed the semi-final between France and Ghana.
