Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) expresses its deepest condolences on the sad demise of its former Technical Director S Subramaniam of Malaysia on August 31, 2021.
Subramaniam was a well known technical expert and served in several important positions, including the Kuala Lumpur Football Association and FIFA. He was the AFC Technical Director between 1989 and 2000.
The Malaysian, who was a physical education teacher in his early days, was also a member of the FIFA and AFC Technical Study Groups in the FIFA World Cup, AFC Asian Cup as well as FIFA and AFC youth competitions.
Subramaniam received the AFC Gold Service award in 2011 for his many contributions to the game.
The thoughts and prayers of the AFC and the rest of the Asian football community are with the loved ones and friends of Subramaniam, the Football Association of Malaysia and the Malaysian football family during this difficult time.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Malaysian national footballer V. Krishnasamy who passed away on Sunday at the age of 72 after a long battle with diabetes.
The Malaysian Olympian played for the national team from 1967 to 1976 with his greatest achievement arriving when he led the Harimau Malaya to a memorable 3-0 victory over the United States at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games.
After his football career, Krishnasamy continued his contribution to sport as a technical official in the Penang Amateur Athletic Association for several years.
The thoughts and prayers of the AFC and the rest of the Asian football family are with the family and friends of Krishnasamy, the Football Association of Malaysia and the Malaysian football community during this difficult time.

Kuala Lumpur: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU) and Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) are the latest Member Associations (MA) to be approved as full members in the AFC Elite Youth Scheme.
The highly acclaimed Scheme continues to recognise efforts by MAs to develop a strong and sustainable foundation for youth football in their country.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) Director Mr. Vinayak P. Pradhan who passed away on Sunday, 8th March 2020.
In a legal career spanning more than 45 years, Mr. Pradhan, who was the deputy chairman of the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee, built a reputable career as a wide-ranging litigation and arbitration lawyer.
In 2016, Mr. Pradhan became the first recipient of the ‘Arbitrator of the Year Award’ by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Malaysia Branch).
He led a distinguished career with a host of illustrious appointments both domestically and internationally, including Arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Arbitrator of the Olympic Council of Malaysia and Ad Hoc judge for the 17th Asian Games.
Mr. Pradhan will be remembered for his services and valuable contributions to Asian and Malaysian football.
The thoughts and prayers of the AFC and the rest of the Asian football family are with the family and friends of Mr. Pradhan during this difficult time.

Kuala Lumpur: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) lifted the Malaysia Cup after scoring a comfortable 3-0 win over Kedah in the final at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
JDT, set to feature in the 2020 AFC Champions League, completed the domestic double after having clinched the Malaysia Super League title earlier in the season.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) extends its condolences to the family and friends of former Malaysia captain Dato' M. Chandran who passed away on Saturday at the age of 77.
He was an integral part of the Malaysian national team in the 1970s, when the Southeast Asian country qualified for the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Born in Sungai Siput, Perak, Dato' Chandran started his playing career with Selangor Indian Association before he was spotted by Selangor.
His rise, from there on, was rapid as he established himself in both the Selangor and Malaysia teams as a steely tough tackling centre-back.

Kuala Lumpur: Youngster Fadzrul Danel Nizam was the hero as Kedah edged Perak 1-0 in extra time to clinch the Malaysian FA Cup on Saturday.
Fadzrul scored in the 105th minute at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, having come on as a substitute.

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia, Singapore, Afghanistan and Oman are out to impress as the four teams compete in the 2019 AIRMARINE Cup which kicks off at the National Stadium on Wednesday.
Hosted by the Football Association of Malaysia, the inaugural friendly tournament will witness Afghanistan take on Oman in the first semi-final match of the night, before Malaysia and Singapore take the stage in a much-awaited Southeast Asian tie.
The tournament serves as the first stepping stone in the teams preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
For Oman head coach Erwin Koeman, it’s an opportunity to familiarise himself with his squad.
The former Dutch international was appointed to lead the West Asians recently, but that has not swayed him from the target of winning the tournament.

Kuala Lumpur: World Football Summit Asia (WFSA) is coming to Malaysia and Asia for the first time and will do so in April 2019 after its successful events in Spain over the last three years.

The two-day event, scheduled for April 29-30, 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, is the ideal platform for companies and organisations to mingle with elite and established names in the football industry, thus gaining access to business and networking opportunities.
There are three different passes which allows access to the summit. The Corporate pass priced at US$1000, Delegate Pass at US$699 and the US$100 Student Pass are only limited to 100 applicants.
When the international event, held annually in Madrid for the past three years, decided to internationalise and selected Malaysia as its first Asian host, it underlined the fact that football, without doubt, is the number one sport in the Southeast region.
With countries like China PR, Qatar and India all bidding for the privilege to host the event, Retro Minds Network Sdn Bhd (A fully owned Malaysian-based company) successfully won the rights to host WFSA for the next 10 years. It will expand the brand throughout Asia in the coming years.

Phnom Penh: Malaysia recovered from going a goal behind to defeat Cambodia 3-1 in an international friendly at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh on Monday.
Soeuy Visal gave Cambodia, who had former Japan international Keisuke Honda on the coaching bench, a perfect start when he volleyed home a header from Keo Sokpheng in the 18th minute.
Boosted by the lead, Cambodia pressed for a second as Malaysia were limited to occasional glimpses at the Angkor Warriors goal.

Kuala Lumpur: Dato' Hamidin Mohd Amin, the newly elected President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), met with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John at the AFC House on Tuesday to discuss football development in Malaysia.
Dato’ Hamidin was accompanied by FAM Vice-President Dato' Sri Subahan Kamal and newly appointed FAM General Secretary Stuart Michael Ramalingam at the meeting in which he outlined to Dato’ Windsor John and AFC Directors the FAM’s commitment to work closely with the AFC.
Dato’ Windsor John told Dato’ Hamidin: "We are happy to welcome the FAM delegation to AFC House, the home of Asian football.
"Not only because of the AFC being located in Malaysia, FAM is an important Member Association of the AFC and has been a member since 1954 and we look forward to working with FAM and assisting in the future development of the game in the country."
Dato' Windsor added that the AFC has been encouraged by the positivity and enthusiasm Malaysian football is witnessing after the election of Dato’ Hamidin at the helm of FAM.
The AFC General Secretary also debriefed the FAM delegation on several development initiatives that AFC is providing to its Member Associations to develop football in their countries.
The FAM President thanked the AFC for their support and added: "We are ready to take Malaysian football to the next level and for that we need active support of the AFC and I am sure the relationship between the AFC and FAM will further enhance in coming days.”

Kuala Lumpur: Johor Darul Ta'zim etched their name in the history books after becoming the first club to clinch five consecutive Malaysia Super League titles after defeating Perak 2-1 on Tuesday. The result sees them become the first Malaysian side to qualify for the AFC Champions League group stage.
With four games left to play and with a 13-point lead, a win for Darul Ta'zim would see them clinch the title but Perak gave them a scare when they took the lead in the 74th minute courtesy of Norhakim Hassan.
However three minutes later, midfielder Hariss Harun equalised for the visitors and substitute Safawi Rasid scored the winner seven minutes before the final whistle to cap a dramatic comeback win for Raul Longhi's men and clinch their fifth title in a row.
