Al Hasa: After making their debut in the 2014 AFC Champions League Group Stage, Saudi Pro League side Al Fateh return for another shot at Asia’s premier club competition with a Play-off Stage tie against Uzbekistan’s FC Nasaf on Tuesday.
An impressive 2015-16 campaign handed Al Fateh a golden chance to return to the continent’s elite, but the side is currently fighting to avoid relegation after a disappointing first half to their domestic season. They will also need to overcome the absence of suspended captain Hamdan Al Hamdan for this match.
Nasaf, meanwhile, enjoyed a convincing 4-0 Preliminary Stage 2 win over Al Hidd, and will be keen to replicate that performance and secure a fourth appearance in the AFC Champions League Group Stage. The Qarshi-based side know what it takes to succeed on the continent, too, having become the first club from Uzbekistan to win a continental title after claiming the AFC Cup in 2011.
