Overview
Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors qualified for the AFC Champions League for the seventh consecutive year after they successfully defended their K League Classic title in 2015, finishing six points ahead of runners-up Suwon Samsung Bluewings. Jeonbuk became the first Korea Republic team to win the AFC Champions League when they beat Al Karamah of Syria 2-1 on aggregate in the 2006 final. They also finished runners-up in 2011 after losing a penalty shootout to Al Sadd of Qatar and went out in the quarter-finals last year after a dramatic 3-2 aggregate loss to Japan’s Gamba Osaka.
