Sharayea: AFC Champions League quarter-finalists Al Ahli missed the opportunity to leapfrog Al Hilal and go top of the 2013/14 Saudi Professional League standings after being held to a 1-1 draw by last season’s First Division champions Al Orobah.
Taiseer Al Jassam gave Al Ahli the perfect start with the midfielder putting the Jeddah giants 1-0 up with only five minutes at the King Abdulaziz Sport City Stadium played.
However Charles Edoa, who won his first Cameroon international cap in February when he came in as a substitute in the Indomitable Lions’ 1-0 friendly loss to Tanzania, levelled just six minutes later to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.
Vitor Pereira’s side remain second in the Saudi League standings with five points from three matches, one behind Al Hilal who have won both of their SPL matches so far.
Al Ahli, runners-up to Ulsan Hyundai in last year’s edition of the AFC Champions League, will face FC Seoul in the second leg of their 2013 ACL last-eight encounter on September 18 having shared a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Saudi Arabia.
