Jeddah: Abdulrahim Jaizawi scored a brace as ACL contenders Al Ahli successfully defended the Saudi Arabian Champions Cup title thrashing 10-man Al Nasr 4-1 in the lopsided final played on Saturday.
With their big ACL Round of 16 tie coming just in two days time in Abu Dhabi, the 2011 King’s Cup champions will travel to the UAE to meet in-form Al Jazira on Tuesday with the positive frame of mind.
Al Ahli, who finished second in the Saudi Pro League, were in brilliant form throughout the match after leading 1-0 in the 36th minute from Oman international Amad Al Hosni.
Jaizawi started the second half with a bang after finding the net one minutes into the second half. Depleted Al Nasr were reduced to ten-man in the 72nd minute when Hadj Bougueche was dished out second yellow card of the night and Al Ahli made full use of it.
Just two minutes after playing against one man less, Kamil Al Mousa took the match beyond comeback from Al Nasr and Jaizawi completed his brace three minutes after Kamil’s goal making Vinicius Reche’s 82nd minute goal for Nasr a mere consolation.
Al Ahli had finished the group campaign as Group C as runners-up behind Sepahan. They are the only Saudi Arabian club travelling in this week’s ACL as Al Hilal and Al Ittihad enjoy home ties by virtue of finishing top of their respective groups.
