Kuala Lumpur: Al Hilal legend Mohammed Al Deayea is excited to see three Saudi Arabian teams making it to the quarter-final stage of the 2012 AFC Champions League.
The 37-year-old, who was part of Saudi Arabia’s FIFA U-17 World Championship winning squad in 1989 and a key member of the AFC Asian Cup winning side in 1996, was a special guest at the 2012 AFC Champions League Knockout Stage draw, which featured two-time ACL champions Al Ittihad, their Jeddah rivals Al Ahli and Al Deayea’s former club Al Hilal.
The draw ensured that the Saudi clubs are separated giving all the three a chance to make it to the semi-finals.
"This is good for Saudi Arabian football to have three representatives and all of them have genuine chances,” the former Saudi International custodian told www.the-afc.com.
On the chances of his former club Al Hilal Deayea, who helped Al Hilal to four Saudi league and two Asian Club Championship titles as many other domestic cups and West Asian honours, said: “We have numerous top international players and other young and enthusiastic boys so I am sure they will do good in the competition.”
Al Hilal will travel to Korea Republic to face Ulsan Hyundai on September 19 as the return leg at Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium is scheduled for October 2.
