Riyadh: ACL 2014 contenders Al Shabab reached the final of the Saudi King’s Cup 2014 after edging Al Ettifaq 1-0 on Sunday’s semi-final played at the King Fahd International Stadium.
Omar Al Ghamdi (pic) scored the solitary winner to set final dates against ACL 2012 finalists Al Ahli who defeated Shabab’s ACL Round of 16 opponents Al Ittihad 3-2 in another semi-final of the day in which Al Ittihad ended up with 10 men on the pitch.
Al Shabab recorded five wins in the ACL 2014 Group A campaign as their only loss in the competition came against UAE’s side Al Jazira on match day II in their 3-1 home defeat.
The first leg of the ACL Round of 16 tie will be played at the King Abdulaziz Sports City of Mekkah next Tuesday while Ittihad will make a short trip to Riyadh for the second leg a week later.
The final of the King’s Cup will be played on Thursday at the Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
