Seoul: FC Seoul moved back into the top half of the K-League Classic standings on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Busan I’Park earning Choi Yong-soo’s side a vital three points.
Action in the K-League resumed following the break for World Cup qualifying and Sergio Escudero, a 2007 AFC Champions League winner with former club Urawa Reds, scored the only goal of the game in the 62nd minute, sealing a win that moves FC Seoul up to sixth in the standings.
FC Seoul are nine points adrift of league leaders Pohang Steelers but the win saw them leapfrog both Busan and Suwon Bluewings.
Choi’s team will play in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League in August, having been drawn to face last year’s runners-up, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli, in the draw held in Kuala Lumpur last Thursday.
