Pohang: The goal drought between FC Seoul and Pohang Steelers was finally broken when Everton Santos found the net in the 86th minute of the AFC Champions League semi-finalists 1-0 away win in Sunday's Round 24 K League Classic clash at the Steelyard.
The two evenly-matched sides met in the quarter-finals of this year's ACL with the first leg, hosted by Pohang, ending in a goalless draw before neither side could break the deadlock after 120 minutes of regulation and extra-time in the return fixture at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
And the two sides were four minutes away from a hat-trick of stalemates until the timely intervention of Brazilian Everton Santos, who successfully converted from the spot as FC Seoul defeated Pohang on penalties in the second leg of the ACL quarter-final match to set up a semi-final meeting with Western Sydney Wanderers.
FC Seoul will first entertain Western Sydney Wanderers, who edged out defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande on away goals in their quarter-final, on September 17 before last year's runners-up travel to Australia for the second leg two weeks later.
