Group H: Gamba Osaka fight back to share AFC Champions League points with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors

Tashkent: Japan’s Gamba Osaka came from two goals down to earn a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in a thrilling encounter in Group H of the 2021 AFC Champions League on Monday.

The two teams wasted no time in attacking their opponents and Gamba Osaka nearly opened their account inside 60 seconds as Shinya Yajima drilled a cross-cum-shot from the right, narrowly missing the run of Patrick at the far post.

Group H: Late Tiatrakul strike sees Chiangrai United edge Tampines Rovers for maiden AFC Champions League victory

Tashkent: Thailand’s Chiangrai United left it late before securing a hard-fought 1-0 win over Tampines Rovers of Singapore on Matchday Two of the 2021 AFC Champions League at the Bunyodkor Stadium on Monday.

The Singaporean club had been three minutes away from securing their first ever AFC Champions League point, but they were dealt a hammer blow by Sivakorn Tiatrakul’s close range finish, giving the Thai outfit their first win of this year’s competition.

Chiangrai’s win takes them to three points from two Group H matches ahead of Thursday’s crucial clash with Gamba Osaka, while debutants Tampines have now suffered back-to-back defeats.

Bangkok: Pohang Steelers came from behind to beat Johor Darul Ta'zim 4-1 in Group G of the 2021 AFC Champions League on Monday.

Korea Republic side Pohang roared after going behind, scoring two penalties in the first half after Leandro Velázquez had given Johor Darul Ta’zim the lead. That was followed by two late goals, including a third penalty, as Pohang revived their hopes of advancing to the Round of 16.
